North Battleford Public Library hosting two summer send off events next weekend

Aug 18, 2019 | 12:00 PM

The Library has a full array of activities planned for next Saturday.

The North Battleford Public Library is hosting another themed escape room this month from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 24. Teams of two to five people are required to register prior to the event and must be 13 years of age or older.

Teams will have to work together using codes, clues, and puzzles to escape from the teacher’s lounge before school starts and students start to show up.

Assistant Librarian Candice Froess said that last month’s inaugural escape the 80s event was so successful that they are hoping to host one event a month.

“The escape room was so successful last month that we [ended up] having a waitlist. We told people that we were going to have another event in August so we expect to have another full line-up of teams” she said.

Each team will have 45 minutes to escape with a new group starting every hour for the duration of the event.

The green screen photobooth will be set up from 2-3 p.m. (supplied photo/northbattlefordlibrary.com)

Also happening that same day at the library is the Summer Send Off green screen photo booth.

The booth will be open from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will let participants say goodbye to summer by taking unique pictures.

“We end up getting a lot of families come in for this event,” Froess said. “We have pictures of different themes like beaches, jungles and starry nights for people [to insert themselves into].”

Participants will have to sign a photo release waiver and then the library will be able to email the photos out to everyone.

The photo booth is open to all ages and will be first come first serve.
