Canada-wide warrant issued for seventh person charged in Laverdiere homicide

RCMP have charged and issued a Canada-wide warrant for a seventh person in connection to Tiki Laverdiere’s death.

Nikita Sandra Cook from the Onion Lake Cree Nation is charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Police are actively looking to locate and arrest Cook. Officers said she should not be approached.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Earlier this week, the sixth person charged in Laverdiere’s homicide appeared in court.

Soaring Eagle Whitstone was arrested on Aug. 6 in Lloydminster and charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.

The Onion Lake woman was remanded into custody and will be back in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 30 via closed-circuit television.

Three others are charged with first-degree murder and two with accessory after the fact to murder.

Nicole Cook, 36, was arrested in Fort Saskatchewan on July 31. She is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.

She is the mother of Tristen Cook-Buckle, whose funeral Laverdiere attended on April 27 on the Thunderchild First Nation, days before we was reported missing on May 12.

Jesse Sangster, 23, was arrested in Edmonton on July 28. He is facing charges for accessory after the fact to murder and theft of a motor vehicle.

Shayla Orthner and Danita Thomas are charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.

Brent Checkosis, 18, is facing charges for accessory after the fact to murder, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.

Laverdiere was reported missing on May 12 and last seen in North Battleford on April 29.

Human remains were found in a rural area outside of the city on July 11 and confirmed to be the Edmonton woman on July 17.
