Update: RCMP have arrested and charged Stonechild and his friends.

With help from the RCMP Air Support Unit, a police dog and members of the Elk Point detachment, the suspects were caught.

After attempting to have Stonechild stop the stolen vehicle, he eventually bailed out on foot into a wooded area and was taken into custody without incident.

Stonechild will be facing a number of charges out of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

RCMP say a man involved in a carjacking outside Lloydminster should not be approached if found.

At around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, Maidstone RCMP were called to an armed carjacking north of the Border City.

The male victim was driving Ryan Chad Stonechild, 29, and his friends to Onion Lake from Lloydminster when the driver was told to pull over.

RCMP said Stonechild allegedly told the man to get out of the vehicle and fired two warning shots to keep him away.

Stonechild stole the gold 2000 Nisan Pathfinder with Saskatchewan licence plate 033 MLU.

Stonechild is five-foot-nine, weighs about 160 pounds and has dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and sweat pants.

Officers said Stonechild is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
