RCMP look for community support for security camera network
The neighborhood watch is moving into the digital age.
The City of North Battleford and the RCMP have asked members of the community to register their CCTV and security cameras with them to help counter crime in the city.
Registered members are asked to provide the location of their camera and what direction it is facing or what area it covers. If the RCMP thinks a crime was committed or a person of interest has passed through the area, they can then request the video from cameras that would have coverage of the area.
“If you have a camera with a view of the street and they believe that the person of interest was on that street at that time, then they will request the video to better understand where that person is going or who that person is,” Dustin MacDonald, communication administrator with North Battleford, said.
