Remains found outside North Battleford identified as Tiki Laverdiere

Jul 17, 2019 | 11:12 AM

Human remains found in a rural area outside of North Battleford last week have been identified as Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere.

During the search on July 11, a police dog with the North Battleford RCMP located the remains. A forensic autopsy was conducted on Tuesday.

Laverdiere was reported missing on May 12.

She was in North Battleford at the end of April for a few days to attend a funeral on the Thunderchild First Nation with a friend.

Her mother Carol last spoke on the phone with her on May 1.

RCMP previously said Tiki expressed a desire to return to Edmonton after the funeral. A post on her Facebook page on April 30 showed she was looking for a ride to the Alberta capital from North Battleford.

On June 10, Saskatchewan RCMP announced her disappearance was the result of foul play and would be investigated as a homicide moving forward. The investigation remains ongoing.

Investigators have contacted her family regarding the positive identification.
