North West College’s Scholarship Program is designed to remove financial barriers to student success.

Through the program, the college helps support the next generation of creative thinkers and equips them with the resources to help advance their education.

During the 2018-19 academic year, North West College gave out nearly $100,000 to students.

“Each year, I am amazed by the accomplishments of our students. Their contributions are making a real impact in our communities within northwest Saskatchewan,” President Jay Notay said. “I am proud we are able to recognize their success and wish them the very best as they move on to the next stages of life.”

The organization held their annual Partnership Appreciation event in North Battleford on June 13 and Meadow Lake on June 18. The events welcomed patterns of the college to celebrate another successful year. Over 300 businesses and industry leaders work with the college in a variety of ways to take on work placement students, contract programming, customized professional development, career fairs and sponsorships.

The events highlight the year’s best and brightest through the naming of North West College’s completion scholarship recipients. Around $44,000 was given to 30 students who showcase outstanding academic achievement, leadership and commitment to pursuing advanced education at the institution.

The scholarships are made possible by gifts from individual and corporate donors, as well as a grant from the Saskatchewan Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity Scholarships program.

Application for 2019-20 programs are available with some programming, such as Professional Cooking and Heavy Equipment Truck and Transport Technician, already full.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, businesses and the SIOS program, any student applying for a post- secondary program before August 1 will be eligible to receive a scholarship with North West College.
