Youth from viral Facebook video, to appear in court next month

paNOW has learned more about the young man whose arrest was shown this week in a controversial Facebook video.
The suspect who cannot be named because he is under the age of 18, was scheduled to make his first court appearance in Pelican Narrows Aug. 6. He was charged with possession of a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.
In the video, a machete can be seen not far from where the suspect is kneeling, getting handcuffed. Police have confirmed a machete was used in one of three incidents reported that day in the community.
All three incidents are currently under review by the RCMP. One of the arresting officers seen in the video has come under scrutiny for vulgar and threatening comments he is seen making toward the suspect.
