A look ahead to Canada Day celebrations in the Battlefords

Jun 26, 2019 | 12:44 AM

The Canada Day long weekend will end with a bang courtesy of the Fort Battleford cannon.

Monday will be a day full of celebrations across the Battlefords as the nation celebrates Canada’s 152 birthday.

Events will take place at Fort Battleford and wrap up with fireworks at King Hill.

Fort Battleford will host free Canada day celebrations starting at 10 a.m. and running until 3:30 p.m.

Paige Reynolds, an organizer, said the events will be fun for all ages to come and enjoy.

They will have airbrush tattoos, button making, and a few historical games running throughout the morning.

At noon they will have a cake cutting ceremony followed by the singing of O Canada while they raise the Canadian flag.

Their event will wrap up with a firing of the Fort Battleford cannon at 3 p.m.

The day of activities will wrap up with a fireworks display at King Hill at 10:45 p.m.

Editors Note: This story was amended to remove the activities at the Western Development Museum. They have no festivities planned. We apologize for the error.
