Local dancer heading to Miss World Canada pageant to represent Saskatchewan
Jacy Lloyd grew up in Cut Knife, a small community west of the Battlefords, and four years ago moved into the city to pursue dancing and finish up her high school career.
Lloyd has practiced dance for the past 16 years, and the 19-year-old will use that skill in the talent competition while representing Saskatchewan at the Miss World Canada pageant in Toronto the week of July 20.
Graduationg from John Paul II Collegiate last year, Lloyd is currently working at Roche Beauty Company in North Battleford. In the fall, she will head to Medicine Hat to study criminal justice and forensic investigations.
Normally pageant hopefuls would have to compete in a provincial qualifier before advancing to the national competition, but the director for Saskatchewan was unavailable this year. Because of this, Lloyd and three to five other representatives from Saskatchewan will move directly to the competition in Toronto.
