Family of missing woman whose disappearance considered suspicious pleads for help

May 17, 2019 | 5:54 PM

Carol Laverdiere wants to bring her daughter home.

She is the mother of Tiki Laverdiere, who was last seen in North Battleford and last made contact with her family on May 1.

The 25-year-old’s mother, sister, uncle and aunt are in North Battleford this week, making enquiries and speaking with the RCMP and The Friendship Centre. They have been driving around the area looking for Tiki, and are asking for the public to help.

“Her family is in Edmonton, her boys are in Edmonton. We miss her; we love her. We just want to see her again,” Carol told battlefordsNOW.

The RCMP, with help from the Major Crime Unit North, continue to investigate Tiki’s disappearance. Police consider it suspicious and are concerned for her well-being.

Carol said Tiki was in North Battleford at the end of April for a few days to attend a funeral on the Thunderchild First Nation with a friend on the 27.

Carol last spoke on the phone with Tiki on May 1, but hasn’t heard from her since, which she says in unusual. Police said Tiki last texted her family that day as well.

RCMP said Tiki expressed a desire to return to Edmonton after the funeral. A post on her Facebook page on April 30 showed she was looking for a ride to the Alberta capital from North Battleford.

RCMP said in a press release they are working to determine if Tiki left the North Battleford area as she had no means of transportation home. Investigators are concerned she may have attempted to hitchhike back to Alberta.

Tiki is five-foot-four, weighs about 140 pounds and has small tattoos on her neck and eyebrow, as well as a nose piercing. Her hair is burgundy and she wears grey contact lenses.

At the time of her disappearance, police said Tiki may have been carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag and was seen wearing bright white shoes and a black jacket and pants with unique red and white stripes. She also walks with a slight limp.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
