RIDING SHOTGUN

Police find two stolen guns after traffic stop on stolen vehicle, four arrested

May 10, 2019 | 12:58 PM

Battlefords RCMP have located two semi-automatic shotguns that were stolen from a home in North Battleford last month.

Thursday afternoon at around 1:30 p.m., officers tried to pull over a stolen vehicle but it fled police and ended up stuck in a ditch before the driver and three passengers all ran out on foot. All were later located and arrested for several offences, including outstanding warrants.

Officers found the two guns and a quantity of drugs in the vehicle following the arrest. All four suspects are facing stolen property, firearm and drug charges.

Police determined the guns were related to a residential break and enter on April 20. The home on the 1800 block of 101 St. had 19 semi-automatic shotguns stolen from it, along with a Toshiba laptop computer.

The investigation into both files remains ongoing.
