After a long winter, Jackfish Lodge is set to open next weekend.

The 18-hole course which is just off Jackfish Lake, took off the tarps on April 16 but have been taking it slow in preparation for the busy season. According to General Manager Kyle Kellgren, the course has never looked better.

“The greens came through perfect,” he said. “It was the perfect winter, and a perfect spring so far.”

The official opening date for the course is set for Friday, May 3. There was hope for opening up this weekend, but with forecasted rain and possible snow, combined with the rodeo weekend in North Battleford, the crew felt they would just take an extra week to ensure the best possible golfing experience at Jackfish.

Kellgren said nothing major changed on the golf course, but the main aspect this year for them was to ensure best conditions could remain sustainable.

“Everything is going to be in great shape; in 17 years I have never seen it look so great,” he said.

Golfers can begin to book tee times on May 1 for opening day, and the golfing season.
