Update: Fire crews contain fast-moving grass fire

Apr 23, 2019 | 2:55 PM

The smoke has subsided as fire crews have contained a once fast-moving grass fire that posed a risk to the Sweetgrass First Nation, Table Mountain area and the Village of Prongua near Highway 40.

Traffic restrictions in the area have been removed.

Fire departments from the Sweetgrass and Moosomin First Nation, Battleford and Cut Knife helped tame the flames.

Police also credit farmers building fire breaks for helping to prevent the fire from jumping Highway 40.
