Street sweeping underway in North Battleford

Apr 3, 2019 | 2:15 PM

Piles of dirt, gravel and debris littering the city thanks to melting snow should soon disappear as spring street sweeping gets underway in North Battleford.

The city’s two sweepers are expected to be complete the first round of street cleaning within a couple of months.

Drivers and pedestrians are urged to be cautious around the vehicles as they can kick up dust and debris. The sweepers start in the middle of the street and work towards the curb.

Street cleaning follows the same priority map as snow clearing, meaning main arterials and downtown streets are done first, followed by residential areas.

Once the first round of cleaning is complete, the sweeper falls back onto a regular schedule.

The city says following the on-street parking restriction schedule will allow for optimal street sweeping as the vehicle is able to clean from curb to curb.

Vehicles caught parking during a restriction date and time will receive a $20 fine. Failure to pay the ticket within 14 days doubles the cost to $40.
