Mar 26, 2019 | 9:34 AM

Randall Nicotine is facing a number of charges stemming from a police chase and gunfire exchange with RCMP south of Battleford last Thursday.

The 33-year-old from Edmonton was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for parole violations.

Nicotine has been charged with various weapons-related charges, forcible confinement, child endangerment, assault, assault of a police officer with a weapon, and driving while prohibited, among others.

He made his first court appearance Monday and appeared again via CCTV from Saskatoon Tuesday morning. The matter was put over until Wednesday, March 27 for show cause hearing.

The Saskatchewan RCMP have requested the Moose Jaw Police Service conduct an independent, external investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which included the discharge of RCMP firearms.

Additionally, the Saskatchewan RCMP has requested the Ministry of Justice appoint an independent observer.
