Youth charged with attempted murder after stabbing on Waterhen Lake First Nation

A 17-year-old from the Waterhen Lake First Nation has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing Saturday.

Meadow Lake RCMP said in a media release a 21-year-old was stabbed a number of times in the back. Two suspects fled the scene and the victim walked to a neighbouring home for help. The victim was taken to Meadow Lake Hospital and stabilized before being transported to Saskatoon. Two male youths were arrested shortly after.

The 17-year-old is also facing charges of aggravated assault and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

A 16-year-old from the First Nation was also charged in connection with failing to comply with a probation order.

Both will appear in Meadow Lake provincial court Monday.
