N.B. plans UPAR/revitalization work downtown

Feb 1, 2019 | 6:00 PM

North Battleford’s neighbouring property owners downtown will have an opportunity to see some of the city’s plans for this summer’s construction work on 100 Street.

An open house and information session will be held at the Don Ross Centre in room 107 on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. to provide more details on the project.

Initially the project was to start in May, but due to delays it is slated to begin in July or August instead. City administrators expect work to take about eight weeks to complete.

“We will be sure to keep everyone informed with more specific schedule information as construction approaches,” city engineer Bob Anthony confirmed in an email to battlefordsNOW.

The city sent letters to area property owners that it will undertake underground pipes and asphalt replacement (UPAR) work for the area along 100 St., from 11 to 12 Avenues, while continuing the ongoing Downtown Revitalization Action Plan project at the same time.

Road closures, access disruptions, and drinking water advisories will be in effect when the project proceeds.

As part of the city’s downtown revitalization work, crews will install new sidewalks, streetlights, benches, trash cans and trees.

The work will also involve removing driveway accesses as crews make changes to parking and driveway access.

Property owners may apply for new driveway accesses to be built during the construction process. They are also invited to submit drawings indicating the layout of their parking lots for the city’s consideration.
