N.B. councillors considering crematorium at former Greyhound building

Jan 17, 2019 | 11:00 AM

While the Greyhound bus service is no more, North Battleford councillors are considering what will take the terminal’s place.

The City of North Battleford advertised it received a discretionary land use application request to establish a crematorium and funeral home at 2691- 98 Street. The location is currently zoned as light-industrial.

Councillors will consider the request at the Jan. 28 council meeting.

“Council has the opportunity to review the application and then approve the use at that time,” City Planner Ryan MacKrell said.

MacKrell said Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium is looking at relocating to the site from its current location at 2741-99 Street West, which is not far from the proposed spot.

He added property owners within a 75-metre radius of the terminal were advised of the request.

If any individuals have comments or concerns related to the proposed development, they are asked to provide a written submission to the city planner by Jan. 23.
