Discovery Co-op to open food store, pharmacy in former Super A Foods building

Come early 2019, a new food store and pharmacy will be open in Battleford.

Discovery Co-op has announced they will open a new location in the town in late-April 2019 in the old Super A Foods building.

It will boast a meat and produce department, alongside freshly made bakery products, a full line of dry groceries and a pharmacy section with a full-time pharmacist on hand.

“With major renovations well on their way to the old Super A building, we are excited to offer another location in the Town of Battleford and look to the warm welcome and support that the residents have always greeted us with,” General Manager Mike Nord said in a news release.

Mayor Ames Leslie said he is “uber ecstatic” about the news and the store will be a “great addition to our downtown core.”

“It has been a battle to get something back in that building. I do believe our residents now are going to be presented with the opportunity of having a full-scale grocery store,” he said. “It’s really going to contribute to the health of our downtown.”
