Table Mountain set to open this weekend

Nov 29, 2018 | 1:00 PM

Table Mountain Regional Park is opening up for the 2018-19 season starting Dec. 1.

General Manager of Table Mountain, Lawrence Blouin said about half of the trails will be ready to go in time for opening weekend, with further slopes being made available as weather permits.

“We’re not totally done, we’ll have about 50 to 60 per cent of the area open, but then we’re hoping the temperature cools off a little bit next week here so we can finish our snow making and have everything open for the following weekend,” he said.

Open five days a week through all of December and January, Table Mountain will also increase their hours to open a full seven days a week during the holiday season, from Dec. 21 to Jan. 8.

Blouin said the mountain offers runs for all skill levels, providing the opportunity for an enjoyable experience for everyone, regardless of past experience.

“We have the bunny hill for beginners, and lessons available with all kinds of equipment, and of course in the main area we have green train all the way up to black diamond for the experts,” he said.

Come January, Table Mountain also offers residents of the Battlefords and surrounding area a unique opportunity to take part in both night skiing, and snow tubing, a couple of activities unique to the Battlefords’ when it comes to ski hills in the province.
