Prior to the walk Battlefords Victim Services staff provided a luncheon at the Gold Eagle Casino to support Morin’s family.

There was also a presentation by Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre on the impact of ambiguous loss.

Fox read aloud several messages from Ashley’s family and friends struggling with the loss of Morin.

“Our family is suffering with broken hearts,” Fox said. “The everyday pain of not knowing her whereabouts does not get easier. The pain gets harder.” 

Fox said Diane, Ashley’s mother, is overcome with “uncontrollable tears,” and wants nothing more than to have Ashley home, and said: “To hear your voice, your laughter would be the greatest gift.”

Ashley is a daughter, sister, auntie, niece, granddaughter, cousin, and god daughter, as well as a friend to many, Fox said. She said Morin is also recently a new grandmother, and hasn’t even met her granddaughter yet.

She describes Morin as a very kind and friendly person who enjoys playing soccer, and baseball, adding that Ashley is also a five-time FSIN champ.

“We will not give up until Ashley is brought home,” Fox said. “Each day we wake up with that on our mind.” 

Morin is described as a 31-year-old Indigenous woman, about 5’2″ tall and weighing 110 pounds. She has long black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a black T-shirt with white writing on it, a black hat and sunglasses. She was last sighted in North Battleford on Tuesday, July 10.

There is a $5,000 reward for solid information leading to Morin’s whereabouts.
