Comfort Inn officially opens its doors

The Comfort Inn in North Battleford is officially open.

The hotel, located on Carlton Trail, had tons of local influence when it went up. From the furniture installed, the local influence in designing the structure, and creating a place that grows the community and improves the Battlefords as a travel destination, Comfort Inn was welcomed by residents, local dignitaries and staff alike.

North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater addressed the crowd at the grand opening and had high praise for the new business.

“It not only shows confidence in our economy, and in our community,” he said. “But it’s going to add to our ability to host people here and to attract events here. We have a very strong destination marketing program in the Battlefords — one of the strongest in the province. This is going to make it even stronger.”

The structure is the first of its kind in the way it was crafted. The modular design was put together piece by piece, and with the modern decor inside every room, foyer, and area, it’s sure to turn heads.

Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie also spoke at the opening ceremony and was also excited to see Comfort Inn become a part of the community.

“It just goes to show the strength of this community, and to see a facility like this in our community, and to be chosen to have a facility like this is tremendous,” he said. “I hope to see this parking lot full every day.”

The 105-room hotel comes with many amenities that are not standard with every hotel. There is a games room, which includes a pool table, video games, and bubble hockey, exercise room, guest laundry, and a theatre room. All those amenities are free to guests. There is also a 30-person meeting room available for rent.

Prices range from $149 to $189 a night, with the higher end including two king-sized beds, a pullout couch, and a common area. All bathrooms are modern, and include rainfall showers, with the exception of select bathtub bathrooms also available.

Terry Caldwell, President of the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce said the hotel will help the community grow.

“We always look forward to opportunities like this to grow the Battlefords,” he said. “I think this is a great thing, you can see it from the highway, and all around town and be the talk of the town for something new around the Battlefords. We look forward for this to be a success, and many more to come.”

With the hotel having so many different local influences, it shows good signs ahead for the economy and hospitality sectors in the area. Mayor Ryan Bater said the people of the Battlefords will be very pleased with the business.

“It’s a signal of confidence in our community and economy. It’s been very exciting for the people of the Battlefords to see this property being built. And now that it’s open, its increased our ability to attract more people and attract more events. It’s a sign that investors know that there’s opportunity here in the Battlefords,” Bater said.

Earlier this month, the hotel was presented with an award from Choice Hotels. It was recognized with the 2018 Best New Entry Award for a new build Mid-Market Brand.
