Oct 3, 2018 | 9:50 AM

It was an exciting night for local businesses as the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce announced this year’s Battlefords Business Excellence Awards (BBEX) winners.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the celebration.

During the ceremony, Battlefords Chamber of Commerce executive director Linda Machniak was recognized and will be receiving the Roger Phillips Chamber Builder Award for 2018 for her long-term service with the Chamber. This award is granted through the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce. Machniak said it was “very humbling” to be selected for the prestigious award.

“We go to work at the Chamber of Commerce for businesses in the community every day, so to be recognized for that work is truly an honour,” said Machniak.

Among the big winners at Tuesday’s gala was the Gold Eagle Casino, which received the title Business of the Year Award alongside the Marketing Award.

General Manager Kelly Atcheynum was thrilled to accept the honour for the local non-profit organization.
