BBBS kids show appreciation for Airtime Award

To show their thanks, kids in the BBBS program created heartfelt posters Sperling presented Thursday to the radio station as well as to Norsask, a partner in the campaign. The poster displayed a big heart with the children’s handprints in the centre. It also featured a famous quote from Nicholas Sparks: “Sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary simply by doing them with the right people.”

“It’s great to hear about Big Brothers Big Sisters in terms of ads,” Sperling said. “But the people that they knew and looked up to, talking about them and the program, and hearing their shout outs in the mornings, that really added a little extra sparkle to [the kids’] lives.”

Nic Fransoo, program director and morning show host for Q98, said the station is proud to support the BBBS organization and its work, and the community. He said the airtime package helped the BBBS promote the organization’s various events and increase awareness of the non profit’s work.

“The reason why we like to do this in our community for different [organizations] like Big Brothers Big Sisters is so we can continue to see our community thrive and grow,” Fransoo said. “It isn’t without effort that things like this happen… We want to make sure people know they can reach out to Big Brothers Big Sisters any time they feel they are willing to do something extra.”

Airtime Award Partner Norsask Farm Equipment’s marketing manager Larissa Wack said the company is proud to give its support to the campaign.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters – it’s a great cause; it helps out the youth in our community,” said Wack, who also volunteers as a Big Sister in the local BBBS program herself. 

“The youth are our future in the community,” she said. “So you have to help them out as much as you can.”
