Ears and Beers is back at the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame

Sep 3, 2018 | 9:00 AM

The Sask Baseball Hall of Fame is gearing up for one of its biggest fundraisers of the year.

Ears and Beers is back this year, and after an absence in 2017, people are excited to have the event back in the Battlefords. The night consists of a full supper and cash bar where people can socialize and relax in a laid-back setting.

Jane Shury, CEO and President of the Hall of Fame, told battlefordsNOW she’s excited to bring back the event.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” she said. “It‘s going to be a fun night socializing. It’s caught the ears of many people, not just from the Battlefords. We had people already pick up tickets from as far away as Pierceland.”

The event takes place at the Legion Hall in Battleford, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, which kicks off happy hour for Ears and Beers. Supper, which consists of corn on the cob, hamburgers and hot dogs with baked beans, along with salads, buns and dessert, is served at 5:30 p.m. Following the supper, people are welcome to stay and socialize throughout the night.

The night will additionally consist of raffles and door prizes. Shury said a draw will take place Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a free ticket to the event. People can enter it at the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame.

Shury also explained the atmosphere around the event.

“One of the years we held this event, we had a live band,” she said. “It really didn’t go over well. Most of the people that bought tickets want to come in, sit down and socialize. We’re not doing anything like that this year, but it is going to be a fun night to come in, sit down and socialize in a quiet setting.”

For tickets, or to enter for the draw, Shury said to call the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame or stop in to pick up tickets.
