North Battleford resident wins big

Aug 9, 2018 | 1:58 PM

People from all across the country dream of one day striking it big with a lottery win.

For one North Battleford resident, that dream has become reality.

Sandra Lee Frank, who lives in North Battleford recently won the guaranteed prize draw of $1 million thanks to one lucky Lotto 649 ticket.

When Frank first checked her ticket, she recalled a moment or two of shock and surprise to the Saskatoon Star Phoenix.

“I checked it and I saw a one, and a bunch of zeros,” Frank told The Star. “I got a little bit flustered and I quickly folded my ticket up and put it back in my purse.”

Frank went on to recount the next few hours to follow; hours that involved visiting her mother and sister with whom she said she asked about the lottery.

“I was asking my sister questions about the lottery, cause I didn’t know how I won that or what I had won,” said Frank. “So I was trying to figure out at my mom’s, and I kind of figured out what I won – that it was a guaranteed million.”

Towards the end of the press conference, Frank shared some of what she intended to do with the prize winnings.

“I’m going to share some with my immediate family, and my husband’s going to be retiring in the foreseeable future. And I’ll be able to take that opportunity and retire early with him and spend some time with him. “

Sandra purchased the winning ticket at the No Frills Gas Bar in North Battleford, SK.
