“We do still have a couple of hole sponsorships available if people are interested,” she said. “We definitely have had wonderful support from the local businesses … A lot of people have stepped forward to make this possible.”

She stressed the event benefits an important cause. 

“The point of the tournament is to have kids raising money for kids,” Maunula said. “Last year we raised over $25,000, and the first year just under $20,000. This year we are hoping to raise $30,000.”

The tournament is open to participants ages four to 14. This year organizers added a female category, Maunula said, and prizes are up for grabs for the top male and female golfers in each of the three age categories.

The Rustic Nine Golf Course Par 3 has donated the use of the course for the event again this year. The tournament will take place Sunday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to about 3:30 p.m., followed by prize giveaways.
