RCMP releases more details about fake gold jewelry sellers
Battlefords RCMP are releasing more information with regards to complaints received last week about individuals attempting to sell fake gold jewelry in the area.
Police confirmed at least three couples are involved in pedalling fake merchandise that appears to be gold but it is of no value and of very poor quality.
Investigators say the suspects approach victims in parking lots with a story that they are looking to sell some gold jewelry to get money so they can travel home.
“Several victims have been identified so far and a fraud investigation has been initiated into these complaints,” Battlefords Staff Sgt. Darcy Woolfitt said. “It really is buyer beware.”
