RCMP warn property owners to avoid confrontation after shot fired during break-in

RCMP made three further arrests and located a missing vehicle after a property owner discharged a firearm during an alleged break-in in the Spiritwood region early Tuesday morning.

Police were called to a rural property for a reported break-and-enter at 12:30 a.m. March 13. A firearm was discharged during the incident, RCMP said, though no injuries were reported. One adult male was taken into custody by police yesterday, though they noted he was not the person who fired the shot. Police also put out a call for assistance locating a white Ford truck which was reported missing from the property, and advised the public not to approach the vehicle.

Members of the Big River RCMP located the F350 truck last night in Debden, police said, and members arrested an adult female and two adult males. No charges have yet been laid in relation to the arrests, police said, and their investigation is ongoing.

According to the RCMP, the gunshot was fired by the property owner, who will not face charges.
