Second video released in Pelican Narrows incident

Mar 6, 2018 | 11:00 AM

The Saskatchewan RCMP has placed an officer on administrative duties, pending an investigation into a viral Facebook video which depicts part of an incident in Pelican Narrows.

In the video, which as of this morning had 98,000 views on Facebook, an officer asks a woman if she wants to get shot, tells her to “F**k off,” and later pushes a woman to retrieve a hockey stick she swung at a police vehicle. At the time the original story was published, police did not offer comment on the events which led up to the incident. However, a second video has emerged on Facebook showing the two Pelican Narrows officers arresting a man and struggling to place him in the backseat of the cruiser shortly before the altercation with the women.

The video was posted Monday evening:

The previous video, posted last week, contains footage of the arrest’s aftermath:

Staff Sgt. Rob Embree, with the Saskatchewan RCMP, confirmed one Mountie was placed on desk duties while the incident is investigated. Embree declined comment on the new information, as the matter is still under investigation. paNOW was told the man arrested on video was wanted for a violent crime, however RCMP were unable to confirm it.
