Protesters from Regina arrive at Stanley trial

Feb 5, 2018 | 1:38 PM

Chanting “Justice for Colten,” a group of protesters from Regina held placards outside the courtroom today during the second week of Gerald Stanley’s trial.

Stanley is facing a charge of second degree murder related to the fatal shooting of Colten Boushie from August of 2016.

“We’re here in support of the family,” Colin Tether said. “I think it’s important to ensure justice is served today.”

One sign carried by the group read “Indigenous lives matter.”

Nickita Longman said she thought the headlines focused on the wrong aspects of this case.

“There seems to be a common theme that ignores the fact that Gerald Stanley is on trial,” she said. “It isn’t Colten Boushie.”
