Errors costly for Albers and Mariners in New York
If it weren’t for bad luck, Andrew Albers and his Seattle Mariners would have had absolutely no luck at all.
The Mariners gave up a team record five-first inning errors on Sunday which resulted in six runs in a 10-1 drubbing at the hands of the New York Yankees.
Albers (2-1) gave up eight runs, three of which were earned in five innings of work. The 31-year-old lefty also struck out four batters as the Mariners failed to gain ground on Minnesota for the last wild card spot in the American League. The Twins (67-63) lead both the L.A. Angels (66-65) and Seattle (66-65) by a game a half in the race for the post season.
The Angels and M’s have 31 games remaining in the regular season while the Twins have 32 games left on the schedule.
