Albers on the mound for Mariners again tonight

Aug 21, 2017 | 9:51 AM

His first major league start in nearly a year went swimmingly, and now North Battleford native Andrew Albers has been called to the mound again for the Seattle Mariners.

Tonight he will start against his old organization, the Atlanta Braves, on the road, just 10 days after being dealt to the west coast.

Albers picked up his first major league win since 2013 just six days ago. The 31-year-old lefty allowed only one run in five innings and struck out four on Aug. 15 against the Baltimore Orioles, snapping a five-game losing streak for the Mariners. Seattle is in the middle of a wild card race, currently sitting 1.5 games back of the second spot with a 63-62 record. There are still 37 games remaining in the regular season.

Albers will go up against Mike Foltynewicz, who is 10-8 this season, with a 4.75 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 127 innings pitched.
