Students graduate from North West College

North West College hosted its graduation ceremony Friday afternoon.

Of the 161 graduates, 140 were in attendance for the ceremony. Fifty students graduated from Adult Grade 12, and 111 graduated from a variety of college programs including Office Administration and Early Childhood Education.

Guest speaker Rick Lewchuk, originally from North Battleford and who works as the Senior Vice President of Creative/Marketing for CNN Worldwide, delivered the keynote address at the ceremony. His message was “just do it.”

Lewchuk worked for a variety of television stations from Regina to Toronto before moving to CNN. He has also taken home an Emmy Award for Best Promotional Announcement for the documentary series, The Seventies.

Following two heartfelt student speeches,  graduates lined up to walk the stage.

In memoriam, the college also presented an honorary diploma to the mother of a student who was working on her Grade 12 out of Leask, Sask. In March, the student was a victim of domestic violence and passed away.
