Successful relaunch for BBBS Bowl for Kid’s Sake

After a nine year absence, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Bowl for Kid’s Sake made a successful return to the Battlefords on Sunday.

“I think it’s been a huge success. Bowl for Kid’s Sake hasn’t been around since 2008, so it has been a while since people have participated,” said program coordinator Renee Sperling. “We have had a lot of people come out, ask a lot of questions and enjoy themselves and that’s what we wanted to see happen.”

With the Bowl for Kid’s Sake relaunch, Sperling said she and her group received a lot of feedback from the community.

“People have been great giving us lots of ideas for upcoming events like this one,” Sperling added. “We got suggestions about different prizes we could have; different connections we could make with businesses and people even offered to help with next year’s event which is always welcome.”

The event served both as an awareness campaign and fundraiser for the agency and Sperling was happy with the turn out.

“Our goal was to have each hour of the day with someone on the lanes to bowl and maybe interact with Big Brothers Big Sisters by asking questions and finding out more about us,” Sperling noted.

As far as fundraising, Sperling added that they had a goal of $1,000 which they had easily surpassed before the evening portion of the bowling began.

Joe Williams and his staff at Gutters Bowling and Gaming Centre donated all proceeds from the day to the non-profit organization.
