Mar 27, 2017 | 12:00 PM

Local country music artists will be front and centre as the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards (SCMA) roll into Saskatoon this weekend.

Not only will local stars Brock Andrews, Brody Seibert and Aces Wyld be performing at the weekend gala, but all three are up for major awards.

“It’s great to see our local talent getting recognized at the SCMA’s,” said CJNB/CJNS announcer Matt Ryan, who will host the Friday night Kick-off Party. “These acts will be a big fixture during the festivities not only this year but I am sure in years to come.”

Wilkie born Brock Andrews has six nominations this year including Single of the Year, while Spiritwood’s Brody Seibert garnered five nominations including Album of the Year.

Not to be outdone, Aces Wyld, whose front man Steve Andrew is from Wilkie is nominated for Group of the year.

While the artists are humbled by the nominations they receive, Matt Ryan is also flattered that he has been asked to host the prestigious Kick-Off Party.

“I was really honoured to be asked to host the Friday night kick-off show,” Ryan added. “I’ve been going to the SCMA’s for many years and now to be hosting an event this huge is pretty special.”

The awards will be handed out on Saturday morning followed by workshops, keynote speakers and musical events.
