City planning open house for Riverview proposals
The city of North Battleford will give local residents a chance to air concerns about proposed projects in Riverview at an open house meeting on Tuesday, March 21.
The city had been looking at two projects for the neighbourhood – a tavern/brewery at 702-102nd St. and a new eight unit apartment development at 691-103rd St.
At council’s last meeting several residents spoke out at a public hearing for the proposed tavern and brewery saying they were concerned the site might have a negative impact on the neighbourhood, cause congested parking, increase crime and decrease property values. One resident said she wasn’t concerned about the brewery coming to the neighborhood but didn’t want a tavern close to where she lives. The proposed business would be located at the site of the former armoury.
For the apartment development proposal, the city received a signed petition and letters from residents objecting to the project, also saying they were worried the project would decrease property values.
