Magic show raises donations for the food bank

Feb 27, 2017 | 9:45 AM

It was a magical afternoon at the North Battleford Public Library on Sunday. Illusionist Jason Morgan performed while raising donations for the Battlefords Food Bank.

Morgan recently moved to the Battlefords and brought both his magic act and drive to help others with him.

“I consider myself a humanitarian and I like to use what I have to benefit some cause,” Morgan said. “Working with different organizations for the last 20 years like multiple sclerosis, I’ve got a full history of that.”

Recently, he has been focusing his efforts more on the hungry.

“The first thing I kind of wanted to help was the situation where I saw there was a need for food for people,” he said. “We looked in the statistics and it’s a pretty high number for the amount of families that require the food bank this year.”

Morgan said that he doesn’t own a television, but rather spends his time reading books and getting involved in community events.

“I just moved to North Battleford in January, so I took about a month and half to look around at different options of what I could be and get involved in. I asked for a tour around. They have a beautiful theater in the library that nobody really has known about, it feels like a secret. So I thought it would be a great opportunity to expose that.”
