Province issues $24K in fines for hunting around N.B.
More than $24,000 in illegal outfitting and hunting activities fines were recently issued by the Ministry of Environment.
In one investigation dating back to 2013, a bull moose was poached on private land in the Eagle Creek area. A First Nations outfitter and his American client obtained an export permit for the set of moose antlers, but stated the animal was taken on First Nations land.
As a result, Daniel Shriver of West Virginia was fined $3,260 for unlawful hunting, unlawful possession and providing false information to a wildlife officer.
Steward Baptiste of Cando was fined $5,920 for outfitting without an outfitter’s licence endorsed for that activity and providing false information to a wildlife officer.
