Slippery roads cause trailer rollover in Unity

If you are travelling to Maidstone, Unity or Wilkie today, RCMP are advising motorists to use caution, as roads are again extremely icy with packed snow on many sections of the highway.

Icy road conditions and wind gusts are being blamed for causing a semi tractor-trailer loaded with fuel to overturn yesterday afternoon on Highway 14, just southeast of Wilkie.

Unity RCMP said that traffic was restricted to one lane for several hours as the fuel was transferred from to another truck.

RCMP are reporting that highways in the Unity and Wilkie area, including Highway 14, Highway 21, Highway 29 and rural roads in the area are extremely icy. The current weather conditions have worsened and blowing snow is causing several portions of the highways and their intersections to be hazardous.
