Dance to help support Battlefords mental health
The spotlight will focus on mental health this Wednesday on more than one front in the Battlefords.
Not only will the area be joining the rest of the nation to support Bell Let’s Talk 2017, but also as part of the local events, the Battlefords Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has co-ordinated a dance on Wednesday evening. The event will raise both awareness with mental health issues and money for the association’s “Make Room for Mental Health” fund.
“It just happens that Bell Let’s Talk 2017 coincides with our monthly CMHA dance, so we thought it would be fun to support both causes at once,” said Matt Fedler. “We would like everyone to join us at the Royal Canadian Legion and support the mental health initiatives going on that day.”
One in five Canadians will suffer from mental illness at some point in their lifetime. One of the biggest hurdles for anyone suffering from mental illness is overcoming the stigma. It is the number one reason why two-thirds of those living with a mental illness do not seek help.
