SaskPower closing cash counters in N.B.

Jan 19, 2017 | 9:00 AM

Starting June 1, you’ll no longer be able to pay your SaskPower bill in person.

The company announced it will be closing their cash counters in North Battleford, Regina, Saskatoon, Yorkton.

The company says there will no job losses. The nine employees who currently work at these locations will begin serving customers over the phone and respond to questions through the company’s website.

Diana Avery, Vice-President of SaskPower Customer Service said most of their customers prefer to do their transactions electronically or over the phone which is a big change over the last 10 years.

“We remain committed to improving the power service in and around these communities and we maintain a distribution centre to handle local outages and grid maintenance in each one,” said Avery. “We’ll continue to invest in building and maintaining our power grid in these areas to meet the needs of our growing province.”

SaskPower says just eight per cent of SaskPower’s bill payments are handled at it’s cash counters.
