Kindersley Police find lethal substance in counterfeit drugs
A drug 10,000 times stronger than morphine was found in three counterfeit oxycodone tablets seized by Kindersley RCMP back in April 2016.
Police were advised of the presence of W-18 by the Health Canada Drug Analysis Centre on Jan. 13.
W-18 is used as a cutting agent for opioids including oxycodone and fentanyl. It’s an extremely toxic and dangerous synthetic drug which can be lethal even in small doses. While it is not illegal under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Health Canada states on its website it is attempting to change that.
Two people were charged during a traffic stop which included the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, ecstasy and heroin.
