Harrison moves on; ends Homan’s streak
Jacqueline Harrison was up three points in the final end against the number one team in the world, who happened to have the hammer. Harrison put opposing skip, Rachel Homan, into a very difficult hammer throw, which she ultimately missed.
It was the second time the two Ontario teams faced off during this event with Harrison taking both games. The win also ended Homan’s streak of 18 straight playoff appearances in grand slam tournaments. Fittingly for Harrison, this was her teams first grand slam playoff appearance.
Now Harrison will do battle with Team Tirinzoni from Switzerland.
In other women’s group “C” action, Team Fleury of Ontario defeated Team Englot of Winnipeg and will now face Val Sweeting and her squad from Alberta. The final quarter final spot went to Casey Sheidegger after winning her battle for Alberta against Kelsey Rocque.
