Eight newcomers on Battlefords Chamber of Commerce board
Four incumbents and eight newcomers will join the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the two-year 2017 to 2018 term.
The new board members are set to begin their duties at the first board meeting of 2017 in February.
The incumbents who were re-elected are Terry Caldwell of Empress Furniture & Décor, Melanie Roberts of North West College, Mitchell Cooper of Demmans Baldwin Friedman and Frank, and Bill Volk, an individual member. The newcomers are Sharon Mohagen of Blue Rentals, Kayla Petersen of Re/Max of the Battlefords, Janice Sander of Frontier Centre, David Fortier of Fortier Mattila Appraisals Ltd., Jim Lafreniere of Bee J’s Office Plus, Dallan Oberg of Holm Raiche Oberg Chartered Professional Accountants, Derek Schmidt of Bill and Don’s Men’s Wear, and Steven Ulven of Ilta Grain Inc.
There was also a one-year term available due to a director resigning, which was to go to the person with the next highest amount of votes. There was a tie for that amount, but the nominations committee felt strongly about both candidates so there will be two members occupying a seat on the board for the one-year term. They are incumbent directors Susan Challis of SaskTel and Harris Sutherland of Gold Eagle Casino.
