Sharks finish off 2016 with losses to Stars

The AAA Sharks travelled to Saskatoon over the weekend and couldn’t manage to upset the league-leading Stars in games on Saturday and Sunday.

Saskatoon won 5-1 in the first game of the weekend and 7-2 in the rematch, firing over 50 shots on the Sharks goaltenders in each game.

Chloe Burt stopped 52 of 57 shots faced in the first game, while Chantel Weller made 47 saves on 54 shots the following afternoon.

Dakota Peterson got the lone goal on Saturday, while Keara Amson had two on Sunday. All three goals on the weekend for Battlefords were power play goals, which went a combined 3-for-10 in the two games.

On the season, Battlefords is now 3-9-0-1.

They open up 2017 with home games on Jan. 7 and 8 against the Weyburn Southern Range Gold Wings. Battlefords beat Weyburn twice this season, 3-2 and 8-2 in mid-November.
