Elves start spreading of Christmas cheer

Nov 22, 2016 | 1:00 PM

Students from John Paul II donned elf costumes and took to the streets, to hand out candy canes, sing carols, and wish passersby a Merry Christmas.

It was the kickoff to spreading holiday cheer, as the students hit downtown North Battleford Tuesday, Nov. 22.

For Grade 8 student Jayden Nelson, the first day was a fantastic experience.

“It’s great to go around, and spreading Christmas cheer and going into the businesses singing Christmas carols. It was just a great overall experience,” she said. “It was nice to see people smiling and happy.”

She said that businesses in the area were very welcoming and appreciative of the midday surprise.

“When we went into certain businesses there were people who were so happy and they were like ‘can you sing Christmas carols for us?’ and we did and we gave them candy canes. It was really fun,” Nelson said.

Grade 8 students from John Paul II will be spreading cheer downtown Tuesdays and Thursdays.
