N.B. hosts community appreciation night

The city of North Battleford hosted a free family fun night to thank the community for its support.

The community and volunteer appreciation evening on Nov. 8 featured live music, games, a bouncy castle and other activities for residents at the NationsWEST Field House. This was the third annual event of its kind, although events in previous years had different themes and locations.

“The city of North Battleford and Leisure Services wanted an opportunity to say thank you to the community and to all the volunteer organizations that do so much for leisure in the community,” program manager Candace Dustan said. “Without volunteers there are many activities that we couldn’t do, many events that couldn’t happen and it’s part of belonging to a community to be able to volunteer and help out with a lot of these organizations.”

Dustan said the evening was not only a way for the city to show its appreciation for the community, but to provide a hub for people to learn about local organizations and possibly sign up to volunteer.
