Heaven’s Hellions community group supporting North Battleford animal shelter

A charitable group with a potentially off-putting name is working to help the Battleford’s Humane Society move into a new building.

The North Battleford Heaven’s Hellions have stepped up to help the shelter reach their fundraising goal of $1.7 million to move out of their current building, which has major structural issues such as leaks and rotten walls..

The Hellions have organized a bottle drive, going door to door and advocating for donation drop offs. They even picked up a few dogs from the shelter on Saturday, Oct. 29, to bring with them on their door to door efforts.

According to a prospect for the group, Shari Odell, they’re simply doing it because it’s the right thing to do.

“It’s just to help out the community and the humane society. They need a new building and it’s just a good cause,” Odell said.

The Heaven’s Hellions Worldwide Facebook page describes themselves as “a conservative community organization of regular people that seek to assist and support our citizens.”

Shelter coordinator Michelle Spark said that the community support means a lot to the shelter.

“Honestly without the community support and without our volunteers and all the people that are out there helping us raise money and trying to raise money for us, we couldn’t do it,” she said. “I don’t think anyone will ever know how much that support means to us.”

The Battleford’s Humane Society has an offer in on a piece of land for their perspective new home, and are waiting to see if conditions will go through.

So far no timeline on a new shelter location is certain.
