Five spooky things to do in the Battlefords this weekend

With ghost, ghouls and witches out and about, the Battleford’s aren’t short of spooky events to get you in the Halloween spirit.

The Great Pumpkin Masquerade and Family Dance on Saturday Oct. 29 will be held at the Western Development Museum (WDM). The event features activities like games and crafts, a costume parade and contest, and a Trick or Treat concession. Anyone who brings in a carved pumpkin for the gallery gets $2 in WDM bucks. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m., at regular museum admission.

From Oct. 27 to Oct. 28, the museum will also hold its Fright Nights Haunted House. The event has a Creepy Cocktail Bar starting at 6:30 p.m., with the haunted house running from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person for those 13 years or older.

For those in the mood to get spooked, the Fort Battleford National Historic Site will be home to five haunted houses, each with its own theme. The event is for those 13 years and older. Beer gardens are provided by the Friends of Fort Battleford. Head over on Saturday Oct. 29 from 8 p.m. to midnight, at $14.70 a person.

The Mayfair Halloween Dance will be held at the Mayfair Hall, with doors opening at 8:30 p.m. The event is 19 and over, with prizes, lunch and a cash bar. Tickets are priced at $15 with the proceeds staying in the community.

In the mood for a Monster Mash? The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 70 at the Sloan Auditorium has a Halloween Monster Mash with the Canadian Legion of Riders on Saturday Oct. 29. Live music will be performed by The Barons of Buckingham, with special guests Stereo Playground. The event begins at 8 p.m. with tickets at $15.
